Planner: Remember to have it signed every day.
Independent Reading: Read 20 minutes per night. 100 minutes required. Record minutes in planner.
PTA Reading Contest Keep track of your minutes in your planners between January 17th and February 18th for a chance to win some terrific prizes! See the flyer that went home today. There are individual prizes as well as class prizes. Our school could win a visit from a Utah JAZZ basketball player!!!
Homework:
EARPHONES/HEADPHONES: EACH STUDENT NEEDS HIS/HER OWN SET. THEY DO NOT NEED AN EXPENSIVE PAIR. A FEW STUDENTS HAVE REPORTED THAT THEY BOUGHT THEIRS AT THE DOLLAR STORE.
Math: Worksheet 5-11 due Monday 1/27. For extra practice, visit ThinkCentral and try out some of those activities. The User Name and Password are both your lunch number. Students are struggling with their math facts. Have them practice at MathMayhem, especially multiply and divide.
Science:
Language Arts: Essay: "Space Shuttle Mission." Due: Monday, January 27. Essay requires five paragraphs and 1000-1200 words. Students have over the weekend to raise their scores. Remember a 4.2/6 points = 70% = C. Essay scores lower than a 4.2 are an NI.
Reading: We are enjoying the novel Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. Your student should have read chapters 17-19 today. We started the workbook questions/discussion and will finish it next week. It has been fun to have discussions about what it would be like to live forever as a 6th grader.
Elk Meadows Elementary Choir is starting next month. Please turn in your permission slip no later than January 28th. The note went home on Wednesday, but you can get one in the front office if you are interested. Practices will be Tuesday/Thursday from 7:45-8:15am. We are so excited to be having a choir this year and look forward to a lot of 6th grade participation!
